1. You may identify the stasis in the play but it isn’t necessarily at the beginning of the play. Where is it and who does it involve?
The stasis is in court before the confession was brought forward. The investigation is standard and the defense and prosecution continue to go back and forth. The trial is like any other however the prosecutor believes he has it in the bag. Mr.White is just another murderer who killed out of rage and the outcome looked pretty clear. Many people Dan White will be convicted of murder.

2. Ball points out that the intrusion sometimes occurs late in the dramatic action. What is the intrusion that breaks the stasis in Execution of Justice and how is it broken?
The intrusion is the revealing of the confession made by Dan White admitting to his crime but pleading to others that he did not want to and that it wasn't his intention. This tape affects the outcome of his trial because it is not a question of if he did it but if it was premeditated murder or a crime of passion. The tape is a confession, however, it gives an approach of mental insanity and gives the jury the option to determine if Dan White, indeed, premeditated the death of Harvey Milk and George Mascone. Without this tape, the outcome of the trial might have changed.

3. Why do the events of the play take place at this particular time and place? In other words, what is the unique factor that is out of the ordinary that causes a turn of events to take place? Hint: what is the heart of the play? How does the title figure in this?
A unique factor is the choice of the jury and the people defending and going against Dan White. One might say the jury was biased and that the prosecution was lazy in their approach to convict Dan White because they found a couple leads to convince the jury it was premeditated.

4. State the dramatic questions that must be answered by the end of the play? (Ordinarily, the dramatic question shares a close connection with the intrusion.)
Will Harvey Milk and George Mascone get justice for being murdered?
Will Dan White get the sentencing he deserves?

5. Use the two lawyers to answer the questions concerning character. Ball says, a character is revealed by what he/she does, ie. The dramatic actions that are taken. Examine what these particular characters wants. The wants of a character often encounter obstacles that get in the way of achieving those wants. Ball says there are 4 kinds of obstacles that frustrate the wants of a character. They are: a. Me against myself, b. Me against another individual, c. Me against society (that is law, social norms, etc.) and, d. Me against fate, the universe, natural forces, God or the gods. In answering these questions be sure to point to the particular obstacles that demonstrate these obstacles facing each of the lawyers.
The conflict was between Dan White and Society, Prosecution vs. Dan White, Defense vs. Prosecution Dan White vs. Mascone, Dan White vs. Milk and apparently Dan White vs. himself, however, the last conflict does not have much genuine evidence to back it up. The entire play is the Prosecution trying to get Dan White convicted of murder and the Defense trying to keep Dan White from getting a harsh sentence. The Defense and Prosecution constantly try to invalidate the other's arguments. Dan White vs.Himself is what the defense wants the jury to believe is the reason for Dan White to be let off easy. The plea of mental health affecting his decisions is an argument made in order to rid the option of the death penalty, life in prison, or any sentencing longer than 8 years. Dan White had an issue with Milk and Mascone which lead him to kill, he wants the jury to believe he wasn't him when he committed these crimes, however, the basics show he has no remorse and took no second thought.

6. The most important information in most plays takes place during theatrical moments. Identify the most theatrical moments in Execution of Justice.
Theatrical moments include the reveal of Dan White's sentence, the confession tape,
A theatrical moment includes the revealing of the confession, and the revealing of Dan White's fate. Each event had a rippling action on society and caused commotion throughout the city. The outcome was not favored and will forever be remembered. The people involved and those who lost their life are mourned and missed because their positive influence on their societal groups no longer have an impact without that individual being in power.
